The other day I heard this song by Simon and Garfunkel, although the song is about isolation and loneliness, I really liked the refrain as a characterization of Bornholm: I am a rock / I am an island. Quite literally that is what Bornholm is: a rock and an island in the middle of the Baltic Sea, but when I think of Bornholm I think of vacation, sunshine, leisure time to explore, reading a good books, walking in idyllic villages and hamlets and of course examine if my nostalgic memories were real or imagined.

All over Bornholm there are breathtaking views and landscapes, that are most beautiful in sunshine, but if cloudy it is still a magical place.

Come with me on a tour and enjoy !

Madsebakke, Bornholm has been inhabited for thousands of years, these petroglyphs are estimated to be 5000-6000 years old. This place was considered a holy place. When the site was first discovered 1884 the farmer here blew up a panel with several more ships because the National Museum could not pay him what he demanded.
